PM Shehbaz Embarks on Iran Visit After Productive Meeting with Erdogan

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday embarked on a significant twoday official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran after concluding successful meetings in Turkiye. The Prime Minister aims to strengthen ties with Iranian leadership during his stay in Tehran.

During his time in Turkiye, Prime Minister Sharif engaged in a warm and productive meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. They assessed progress on key decisions from the 7th session of the HighLevel Strategic Cooperation Council and reiterated their commitment to boosting bilateral trade to USD 5 billion annually.

The discussions also addressed regional and global matters, with both leaders voicing mutual support for each other”s core concerns, including the Jammu and Kashmir issue. The meeting ended with a pledge to deepen cooperation between Pakistan and Trkiye.

The Prime Minister departed Istanbul Airport, where he was seen off by Trkiye’s Minister of National Defense, Mr Yasar Gler.
