Perlut Committee announces to put containers outside govt offices in Chaman

CHAMAN: Perlut Committee on Tuesday announced to put containers outside all government offices situated in Chaman city on February 8, 2024 as a protest against the implementation of single document regime policy introduced by the federal government for travelling between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

It was stated by Spokesperson for Chaman Perlut Committee (Protest sit-in committee) Sadiq Khan Achakzai in a statement. He said that protest sit-in under the auspices of Anjuman-e-Tajiran, Chaman, All Parties Chaman and Laghari Ittehad against the implementation of “Single Document Regime Policy” has been continuing in Chaman for the last five months, but the authorities have turned a deaf ear to get grievances of the protesters redressed.

Though single document regime policy has been introduced yet smuggling from Skam Kanr to Sui Karez along Pak-Afghan border is in full swing, he said, adding that border trade was the only source of income for the people of Chaman, a city bordering Afghanistan, but people of Chaman and its adjoining areas have been deprived of their means of income. He said that protest sit-in against “single document regime policy” would continue adding that containers would be put outside all government offices situated in Chaman city on February 8, 2024 as a protest against single document regime policy introduced by the federal government for travelling between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

It is pertinent to mention that single document regime policy replaced the decades old practice of granting special travel permits, called Tazkira, for travelling without visa and passport between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
