Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday celebrated the newly announced Gaza Peace Agreement as a landmark opportunity for enduring regional stability but issued a stark warning that recent provocations at Al-Aqsa Mosque could dangerously undermine the entire peace process.

In a statement posted on X, the Prime Minister described the accord, which is aimed at ending the ongoing genocide in Gaza, as a “historic opportunity.” He stressed the necessity of preventing any actions that could subvert the path toward sustainable peace in the Middle East.

The premier lauded the contribution of U.S. President Donald Trump in facilitating the peace settlement, noting that his leadership and negotiation efforts throughout the process were a reflection of an unwavering dedication to global peace.

Shehbaz Sharif also commended the administrations of Qatar, Egypt, and Trkiye for their tireless diplomatic initiatives that were instrumental in achieving the agreement.

Paying tribute to the people of Palestine, the Prime Minister said they had endured an immense ordeal, which he insisted must never be repeated. He also voiced profound concern and strong condemnation regarding recent incidents at Al-Aqsa Mosque, calling them unacceptable and perilous for regional security.

The Prime Minister urged the international community to hold the occupying forces and illegal settlers accountable for their actions. He called for a halt to further steps that could jeopardize President Trump’s de-escalation efforts and the fragile journey toward a lasting resolution.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s solidarity with the Palestinian cause, Shehbaz Sharif stated he would continue to work with partners and brotherly nations to ensure security and dignity for the Palestinian people, in line with their aspirations and United Nations resolutions.
