Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr Musadik Malik, and Ms Coco Ushiyama, Country Director of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), in a meeting today pledged to collaborate on climate-aligned initiatives under a five-year cooperation framework.
The dialogue centered on preventing stunting in Pakistan, highlighting the “4Cs”-climate change, conflict, COVID-induced downturns, and corruption-as primary contributors to malnutrition.
Both parties concurred on the necessity for anticipatory and outcome-focused programs to tackle stunting through climate adaptation and resilience efforts.
Dr Malik underscored the importance of joint ventures that turn climate policy into tangible outcomes at the grassroots level, especially in regions that are vulnerable and food-insecure.
The session reinforced a mutual commitment to embedding climate resilience within Pakistan’s national nutrition and development strategies.
