Pakistan Urges Global Unity Against Terrorism

New York:Pakistan has called for a unified global approach to tackle modern terrorist threats effectively.

According to Radio Pakistan, Deputy Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN, Usman Jadoon, addressed the Sixth Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, highlighting the necessity for a comprehensive and coordinated international response to terrorism.

Jadoon stressed the need to address terrorist threats originating from Afghanistan by holding accountable those providing safe havens and financial support to such groups. He stated that Pakistan faces attacks from groups like the TTP and BLA, which are allegedly supported by India and operate from Afghan territory. He emphasized that no nation can tolerate attacks on its citizens.

Pakistan has been compelled to undertake targeted counter-terrorism operations against these groups' infrastructure and safe havens, with operations based on credible intelligence to ensure precision and minimize civilian casualties.

Jadoon also condemned state terrorism in regions like Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the Occupied Palestinian Territory, calling for an end to such practices.

Furthermore, Pakistan supports the Organization of Islamic Cooperation's position that a consensus-based Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism should clearly differentiate between acts of terrorism and the legitimate struggle for self-determination.
