Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has articulated Pakistan’s intent to collaborate with President Trump and his administration to fortify bilateral ties between Pakistan and the United States.

During discussions with a US delegation led by Eric Meyer, senior bureau official and acting assistant secretary, the Prime Minister welcomed US involvement at the mineral forum. He highlighted the vast opportunities within Pakistan’s minerals sector and urged US companies to consider investing in this priority area.

Emphasizing the importance of Pakistan-US relations beyond the bilateral framework for regional peace and security, the Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to work closely with the US administration under President Trump. He pointed out the necessity of enhanced cooperation in key areas, including trade, investment, and counter-terrorism.

Acting Assistant Secretary Meyer lauded Pakistan for successfully hosting the Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum. He recognized the potential in Pakistan’s mineral sector and conveyed the interest of US firms in investing. Meyer further expressed US readiness to collaborate with Pakistan on issues of mutual concern and anticipated strengthening bilateral relations.

Attendees of the meeting included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Division Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, along with other senior government officials.
