Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with China during a meeting with a delegation from the Chinese garment manufacturer, Challenge Fashion Private Limited, in Islamabad today. The delegation, headed by Chairman Huwang Weiguo, discussed investment opportunities and economic collaboration.

Sharif emphasized the unique bond between the two nations, highlighting their mutual support during challenging times. He expressed contentment with the growing economic ties and encouraged increased Chinese industrial presence in Pakistan. The Prime Minister commended Challenge Fashion Group”s confidence in the Pakistani market and welcomed their plans to establish a Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

The establishment of the SEZ, Sharif noted, promises technology exchange, skills enhancement, and sustained industrial expansion. He instructed relevant officials to provide the Challenge Group with comprehensive support for the SEZ project. The Prime Minister underscored the government”s dedication to advancing the industrial aspects of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He expressed Pakistan”s desire to leverage China”s developmental progress and proficiency in textiles.

Sharif announced an upcoming China-Pakistan Business-to-Business Conference in China, anticipating it will foster collaboration between private sector entities from both countries. Huwang Weiguo expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended to his delegation and highlighted Challenge Fashion Group”s $17 million investment in Pakistan since 2014. He outlined the group”s plans for a state-of-the-art textile facility in the country.

The delegation projected a $100 million investment in the SEZ over the next five years, with anticipated exports of $400 million. Following the meeting, the Prime Minister inaugurated the Challenge Group Special Economic Zone.
