Pakistan categorically rejected recent remarks by the Indian Prime Minister, terming them “baseless, provocative, and irresponsible”, in a strong official response aimed at countering what Islamabad described as an attempt to stoke regional tensions for political gain.
In a formal statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday in reaction to the Indian leader’s public address in Rajasthan, Pakistan’s government condemned the remarks as “replete with distortions, misrepresentations, and inflammatory rhetoric,” warning that such posturing threatens regional peace and violates international legal norms.
‘These statements constitute a grave breach of the United Nations Charter and established principles of international law,’ the statement noted, highlighting that threats of military action against a sovereign country cannot be tolerated under the framework of responsible state behavior.
The Indian Prime Minister’s remarks were seen by Islamabad as a deliberate tactic to divert domestic attention away from internal challenges, including persistent human rights concerns in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Pakistan reiterated its longstanding position that any effort to link it with terrorism is “factually incorrect and patently misleading.”
Pakistan also reminded the international community of its consistent role in global counterterrorism efforts and emphasized that India’s aggressive rhetoric was an attempt to obscure ongoing human rights abuses in Kashmir, which have been widely reported and condemned by international observers.
Urging New Delhi to abandon ‘escalatory statements and belligerent posturing,’ Pakistan called for maturity and diplomatic engagement to address bilateral issues. “Rather than resorting to fictitious narratives and warmongering for electoral mileage, India should demonstrate maturity by resolving outstanding disputes through peaceful dialogue,” the statement added.
While reaffirming its commitment to peaceful coexistence and regional stability, Islamabad warned that any aggression would be met with a “resolute and proportionate response,” referencing past incidents as evidence of its preparedness and resolve.
The statement concluded by calling on the international community to ‘take serious note of India’s aggressive posture and hatedriven narratives,’ and stressed that durable peace in South Asia hinges on dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to international norms.
Pakistan’s firm response underscores the fragile state of relations between the two nucleararmed neighbors, with Islamabad once again urging diplomatic solutions over rhetoric, as tensions threaten to escalate in the leadup to key electoral timelines in the region.
