Pakistan observes Day of Mourning over Kuwait Amir’s death

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan on Monday observes Day of Mourning over the death of Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah to express fraternal solidarity on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan, with the royal family, the government, and people of Kuwait.

The national flag flied at half mast throughout the country on the day. Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar had declared Monday as the Day of Mourning in Pakistan on the sad demise of Amir of Kuwait.

In Kuwait, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the European Union, Belgium, and Luxembourg, Amna Baloch, has extended sincere condolences over the sad demise of Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al Jaber Al-Sabah.

In a solemn visit to the Embassy of Kuwait in Brussels, Ambassador Baloch conveyed her heartfelt grief and sorrow, recognizing the late Emir as a true friend and unwavering supporter of Pakistan. She said Pakistan stands in unwavering solidarity with the people of Kuwait and the Royal family in this hour of grief.

Furthermore, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has left for Kuwait to condole the sad demise of Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah. Kuwait Ambassador saw-off the Prime Minister at Noor Khan Airbase Rawalpindi on Monday.

It may be noted that Kuwait’s ruling Amir, Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Sabah, died last Saturday at the age ofe 86 years. The Kuwaiti people, the Arab and Islamic nations, and the friendly peoples of the world also mourn his death.

In late November, Sheikh Nawaf was rushed to hospital for an unspecified illness. Sheikh Nawaf was sworn in as Amir following the 2020 death of his predecessor, the late Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah. Sheikh Nawaf previously served as Kuwait’s interior and defense minister.
