Pakistani and Nepalese parliamentary leaders have pledged to deepen their countries’ relationship.
The pledge was made during a meeting at the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva. Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and House of Representatives Speaker Devraj Ghimire reaffirmed their nations” longstanding bond, emphasizing shared regional interests, mutual respect, and strong citizen connections.
Gilani highlighted Pakistan’s dedication to enhancing ties with Nepal through increased parliamentary diplomacy, trade, educational exchanges, tourism, and cultural programs. He stressed the significance of dialogue and joint efforts to foster peace and comprehensive regional growth.
Both leaders also voiced a shared determination to tackle global issues such as climate change, disaster preparedness, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Ghimire praised Pakistan”s scholarship program for Nepalese students, calling it a vital link between the two countries.
Gilani extended a formal invitation to Ghimire to attend an upcoming Speakers Conference in Islamabad, scheduled for November 11-12, 2025, which Ghimire accepted.
