Ambassador Misbah Khar, Special Envoy for the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC), met with Chinese Embassy officials on Monday to discuss the upcoming conference and strengthen Pakistan-China ties. Khar briefed Ms. Dong Wenli, Deputy Director of the Political Section, and Mr. Zhang Duo, Attaché, on the ISC’s goals of promoting dialogue and cooperation among parliamentary leaders for global peace, progress, and safety.

Khar highlighted that Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani’s election as the ISC’s founding President demonstrates international trust in Pakistan’s leadership. She formally invited China to the first ISC session in Islamabad on November 11-12, 2025, themed “Peace, Development, Stability, and Security.” The gathering will include representatives from around the world, including ASEAN and other regional bodies.

Ms. Dong Wenli welcomed the briefing and noted the upcoming 74th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic ties, signifying their enduring partnership. She confirmed China’s dedication to multilateral collaboration and expressed faith in the ISC’s potential as a valuable forum.

Khar stressed Pakistan’s high regard for China’s participation in the ISC and its contribution to their shared vision. She reaffirmed the strong bilateral connection between the nations, which forms the basis for their collaboration in regional and international matters.

The meeting concluded with both sides expressing positive intentions and a commitment to enhance their relationship as they prepare for the ISC. Tariq bin Waheed, Senior Director General (Protocol), Senate of Pakistan, also attended the meeting.
