Pakistan facilitates transfer of 22 Iranian ship crew members

Twenty-two Iranian seafarers, previously held aboard the seized container vessel ‘MV Touska’, have been safely repatriated to Pakistan, an initiative facilitated by the United States as a significant confidence-building measure.

The individuals, having arrived in Pakistan last night, are scheduled to be formally transferred to Iranian authorities today, marking a crucial step in their return home. The Iranian container ship, ‘MV Touska’, central to the incident, will also be transported back to Pakistani territorial waters. Following necessary repairs, the vessel is slated for restitution to its original owners, according to a report today.

These complex repatriations and logistical arrangements are being meticulously coordinated with the active backing of both Iranian and United States delegations, underscoring a cooperative approach.

In a statement, the Foreign Office Spokesperson articulated Pakistan’s endorsement of such confidence-building initiatives. The nation remains committed to fostering dialogue and diplomatic solutions, concurrently pursuing ongoing mediation efforts aimed at bolstering regional peace and security.
