Pakistan has strongly condemned Israeli incursions and the establishment of so-called permanent positions within southern Syrian territory, labeling the actions as “highly destabilizing” during a United Nations Security Council briefing.

Speaking at the session, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, asserted that these activities are violations of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and are condemnable, according to a report today.

The Pakistani envoy stressed that as Syria moves into a new phase marked by transition, it is essential for the international community to remain steadfast in supporting its path towards stability, reform, and inclusive state-building.

Ahmed also called for the mobilization of all efforts to strengthen the humanitarian situation in the war-torn country, highlighting that the persistent threat of terrorism remains a grave concern.

He concluded that any future security arrangements must be grounded in the United Nations framework and require the consent of all parties involved.
