Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Law, Azam Nazeer Tarar, announced on Tuesday that the long-standing Palestinian issue is progressing toward a resolution, asserting that the people of Palestine have welcomed a recent Gaza peace plan.

Speaking during a session of the Senate, Tarar highlighted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had vigorously advocated for the Palestinian cause at the United Nations General Assembly. He added that ongoing efforts to secure peace in Gaza were gaining significant international acknowledgment.

Shifting to domestic affairs, the minister addressed the government’s responsibility in finalizing key investment agreements, specifically referencing the Reko Diq project. He insisted the agreement was executed with complete transparency and emphasized, ‘The first right over this project belongs to Balochistan.’

Tarar also recalled that federal intervention in the Reko Diq case had successfully saved the country from an $8 billion penalty that was imposed through international arbitration.

On another domestic matter, the minister confirmed that preparations for the next National Finance Commission (NFC) Award have been finalized. He noted that the process, which incorporated input from all provinces, was completed in September following the prime minister’s instructions, and the award would be announced soon.

Underscoring Pakistan’s diplomatic standing, Tarar stated that the nation’s role in global affairs was being increasingly recognized, while suggesting India faced growing isolation on the world stage. He also expressed pride in defense agreements established for the protection of the Haramain Sharifain.

Reaffirming his party’s position, the law minister said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) continues to stand by the 18th Constitutional Amendment and has fulfilled its role in ensuring its implementation.
