Pakistan and China have pledged to bolster their “iron-clad” strategic partnership, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese Premier Li Qiang announced in Beijing on Thursday.

During a cordial meeting, both leaders celebrated the robust relationship between their nations. Sharif conveyed his gratitude for China”s unwavering backing of Pakistan’s sovereignty and development. Praising China’s progress under President Xi Jinping, Sharif expressed Pakistan”s desire to mirror China”s achievements and forge a stronger shared future.

The Pakistan’s PM noted positive outcomes from Pakistan”s economic reforms, aided by Chinese support, and revealed plans to issue Panda Bonds in the Chinese market. The Prime Minister underscored the China Pakistan Economic Corridor”s (CPEC) vital role in Pakistan”s economic growth and urged swift action on key projects.

Both nations committed to advancing CPEC 2.0, featuring five new corridors. Sharif highlighted the potential for business collaborations, citing a recent conference with over 800 Pakistani and Chinese firms. He identified agriculture, mining, textiles, industry, and IT as key areas for cooperation. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for President Xi’s global initiatives. The two countries will commemorate 75 years of diplomatic ties next year. The leaders also witnessed the signing of agreements related to CPEC 2.0, technology, media, and agriculture.
