Tehran marked Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day today with a ceremony at Pakistan House, commemorating both the nation’s founding and recent military successes, including Operation Marka e Haq and Operation Bunyan un Marsoos. The event, postponed from its traditional date due to the observance of Arbaeen in Iran, was attended by Pakistani expatriates and embassy personnel.
Ambassador Muhammad Mudassir Tipu hoisted the Pakistani flag while the national anthem played. He lauded the armed forces, crediting their “unparalleled defense capabilities” for the May 2025 success of Operation Marka e Haq and their readiness to defend the country”s borders. He also honored the sacrifices of those who fought for independence under Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Ambassador Tipu expressed gratitude to the Pakistani community for their contributions to Iran”s economy and their role in fostering bilateral relations. Citing President Pezeshkian”s recent visit, he noted both nations” commitment to boosting trade to $10 billion, emphasizing the diaspora”s important role in achieving this objective.
The ambassador acknowledged the difficulties Pakistan has overcome since independence, highlighting its progress as a modern state. Messages from Pakistan”s president and prime minister were read aloud. Prayers were offered for those who sacrificed their lives for the nation”s establishment and defense, as well as for people in Kashmir and Palestine.
The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony celebrating Independence Day and the victories of Marka e Haq and Bunyan un Marsoos.
