The gathering underscored August 5, 2019, as a day when India revoked the special status of the disputed region, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Russian citizens, Pakistani expatriates, and journalists attended the event.

The assembly included readings of messages from Pakistan’s President and Prime Minister. Attendees observed a moment of silence to acknowledge the suffering of the people of IIOJK.
