As Pakistan’s most senior military officer prepares for retirement, outgoing Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza issued a powerful statement on Wednesday, declaring the nation’s defense as impregnable and stressing that a strong military remains an essential pillar of national security in the current geo-strategic environment.
The remarks were delivered during a special farewell ceremony held at the Joint Staff Headquarters to honor the four-star general’s 40 years of distinguished service. General Mirza is set to retire on November 27.
The formal send-off was attended by a host of senior military leadership, including former holders of the CJCSC post and ranking officers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force. A smartly turned-out tri-services contingent presented a Guard of Honour to the departing chairman.
In his valedictory address, General Mirza expressed gratitude to Allah for granting him the strength to serve with dedication, professionalism, and selfless devotion. He paid profound tribute to the armed forces for their unwavering sacrifices in defending the motherland.
The General also took a moment to specifically honor the shuhada (martyrs) and their families for their ultimate contribution to the nation’s safety. He reaffirmed that the country’s military personnel remain ever-ready to strengthen and safeguard Pakistan.
