ISLAMABAD:The federal government has issued a notification to increase the pension by 17.5 percent, says a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance today.

The pension of all pensioners of the federal government, including civil pensioners of defense and retired employees of armed forces and retired employees of civil armed forces, has been approved from July 1.

According to the notification, the increase in pension will also be applicable to family pension. In addition, the minimum pension has been increased from Rs10,000 to Rs12,000 from July 1.

It should be noted that the federal government had announced a 35 percent increase in the salaries of government employees and 17.5 percent increase in pension in the budget for the next financial year, while the pension of EOBI pensioners has been increased to Rs10,000.

The National Assembly has also approved the federal budget for the next financial year, in which new taxes of Rs215 billion have been imposed.
