National Grid Company Launches Nationwide Safety Campaign

The National Grid Company of Pakistan (formerly NTDC) today initiated a national safety training program, ‘Safety Awareness Campaign 2025,’ to bolster safety measures and public understanding.

The initiative aims to comply with NEPRA regulations and provide employees with the necessary skills to eliminate accidents. The program includes safety workshops at major 500kV grid stations like New Lahore, Yousafwala (Sahiwal), and Gatti (Faisalabad), as well as 220kV stations such as New Kotlapkhpat, WAPDA Town, Ravi, Ghazi Road, Bund Road, Shalamar, Sarfraznagar, Gujrat, Daharki, Jhmapir-II (Sindh), and Industrial-II Quetta.

The workshops emphasized first aid, disaster response, and vital safety guidelines for field work. Attendees received practical training in CPR and learned about emergency planning, safety steps, and the importance of life-saving methods in operational settings. NGC officials gave presentations on critical safety matters, including dangers related to substations and transmission lines, field assessment practices, personal protective equipment (PPE) standards, and NEPRA”s new Permit to Work (PTW) forms.

Rescue 1122 conducted sessions on health, safety, environment (HSE), firefighting, and emergency readiness at several grid stations. Employees from NGC”s Maintenance, Operations, P and I, Security, and administrative departments actively participated in the sessions.

NGC Managing Director, Engr. Muhammad Shahid Nazir, praised the Safety Awareness Campaign, emphasizing that safety is paramount to the company”s activities. He applauded the commitment of those involved in creating a culture that protects both the workforce and the company”s infrastructure.
