Naqvi visits Punjab Institute of Cardiology

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday visited the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) and ordered upgradation of the hospital’s emergency block in three months’ time.

The chief minister also directed that work on the upgradation of the block’s ground floor be started in the beginning of next week. He said that once the upgradation work was over, new surgeons would be hired from foreign countries. “After the Board’s approval, surgeons will also be hired on contract,” he said, adding, “New ICUs and operation theaters will be built, while 100 new beds will also be provided to the institute.”

CM Naqvi was told that LED screens would be installed at the hospital for the patients as well as their attendants. The chief minister also visited different wards of the hospital and inquired after the patients.

He also asked them about the treatment facilities being provided at the hospital. The patients told him that they were satisfied with the facilities. Later, the CM chaired a meeting at the PIC at which matters concerning the upgradation of emergency block came under discussion.

Provincial Minister for Specialized Healthcare Dr. Javed Akram, PIC Chairman Dr. Furqad Aslam, secretary health, secretary communications, commissioner Lahore division and other officials were also present on the occasion.
