Residents of Quetta experienced a sudden earthquake shock on Thursday, which was reported to have a magnitude of 2.8. According to the report from Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) in Islamabad, the depth of the earthquake was 23 kilometers below the surface of Quetta city.
Despite its minor intensity, the epicenter of the earthquake was identified to be 75 kilometers northeast of Quetta. Although no significant damage or casualties were reported, the incident stirred anxiety among the local population, reminding them of the region’s susceptibility to earthquakes.
This area of Pakistan is known for its geological fault lines, which predispose it to earthquakes.
