Middle Eastern, Islamic Nations Condemn Israeli Strikes on Iran, Urge Immediate De-escalation, Diplomatic Resolution

In a joint statement issued amidst growing instability in the Middle East, twenty-one nations spanning the Arab and Islamic world have strongly condemned the Israel’s recent military actions against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The statement, released by the foreign ministries of countries including Saudi Arabia, Trkiye, Pakistan, and Egypt, calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities and a return to diplomatic channels to address rising regional tensions, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office here on Tuesday.

The joint communiqué follows Israel’s reported military strikes on Iranian territory beginning June 13, 2025, actions which the signatory states have described as violations of international law and the United Nations Charter.

‘We categorically reject and condemn Israel’s recent attacks on Iran,’ the statement reads, underscoring the need to uphold the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states and to pursue peaceful dispute resolution.

The ministers warned that the ongoing escalation risks destabilizing the entire Middle East, potentially igniting broader regional conflict. They emphasized the necessity of halting Israeli hostilities and restoring calm through a comprehensive ceasefire.

Beyond immediate conflict de-escalation, the joint statement renewed calls for the establishment of a Middle East Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons and Other Weapons of Mass Destruction, urging all regional states to adhere to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) without exception.

The foreign ministers also stressed the need to safeguard nuclear facilities under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) oversight. Any attacks on such facilities, they warned, would constitute serious breaches of international and humanitarian law, including the 1949 Geneva Conventions.

In addition, the statement called for the protection of international maritime navigation and denounced any actions that threaten the security of vital shipping lanes. Finally, the joint statement reiterated that diplomacy, dialogue, and the principles of good neighbourliness-anchored in international law and the UN Charter-are the only sustainable path forward. Military solutions, the ministers agreed, cannot resolve the crisis.

The countries endorsing the statement include: Algeria, Bahrain, Brunei, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Mauritania, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Trkiye, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates.
