KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla has said that Sindh Excise and Taxation Department had performed its best by achieving 114% tax target in the financial year 2020-21.
“It is the result of hard work and dedication of the staff,” he said while presiding over a meeting here today. The meeting was also attended by Secretary Excise and Taxation Raja Khurram Umar Shehzad, Director Generals Munir Ahmed Zardari, Haji Saleem Bhutto, Director Admin Shabana Pervez and other officers.
The meeting was informed that a total of Rs99698.387 million tax was collected in the financial year 2020-21 from July 2020 to June 2021 while Rs77884.917 million tax was collected during the same period in the financial year 2019-20. The meeting was further informed that Rs9520.051 million was collected for motor vehicle tax and Rs82659.016 million for infrastructure cess while Rs1679.875 million for property tax and Rs.600.764 million for professional tax.
According to the briefing, tax of Rs101.346 million was collected on cotton fee and Rs37.248 million on entertainment duty. Chawla said that the collection of tax targets was a proof of the performance of the officers and staff and this time too Sindh Excise and Taxation Department had maintained the tradition of collecting more than 100% tax. He hoped that during the new financial year 2021-22, the officers and staff members of the department would further improve their performance and maintain their glorious traditions.
