KARACHI: The K-Electric has asked National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to increase power tariff by Rs5.27 per unit under fuel adjustment charges formula, according to a report on Wednesday.

The application seeking hike in power tariff was filed to NEPRA on fuel adjustment charges basis for the month of March. The hearing on K-Electric plea is expected on April 27. It is pertinent to mention here that on April 15, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) had approved an increase of Rs4.85 per unit in the price of electricity in connection with monthly fuel adjustment charges for February.

The NEPRA issued a notice in this regard stating that the raise will be applicable on the electricity bill for the month of April only. It will be applied to all consumers of the Discos except lifeline and K Electric consumers. The CPPA had sought an increase of Rs4.94 per unit. Before that in January, Rs5.94 per unit were charged from consumers in connection with monthly fuel adjustment charges.
