KDA governing body approves FY20-21 budget

KARACHI: Governing Body of Karachi Development Authority (KDA) has approved budget for the financial year 2021-22. The budget has been approved under section 27 of the KDA Order 1957. It also approved its implementation from July 1, 2021. The meeting of the Governing Body of KDA held at the Civic Center presided by Sindh Local Government and Information Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah who is also the Chairman of KDA Governing Body. Secretary Local Government Syed Najam Shah, MPA Shamim Mumtaz, Director General KDA Nasir Abbas Soomro and other members were also attended the meeting.

The budget of KDA for the financial year 2021-22 amounting to Rs.6918.074 million was approved , while revised budget for the year 2020-21 amounting to Rs. 6605.805 million was also approved in the GB meeting.

On the occasion, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that public housing scheme should be planned under public-private partnership on 20,900 yards of land of KDA in Surjani Town. He said that work on KDA scheme should be expedited and assured Sindh Government’s full cooperation. What are the reasons that KDA’s housing schemes are delayed for 15 years, while in the private sector, housing schemes are completed in three years and the owners are given possession, the minister asked. He directed that list of KDA’s delayed projects should be compiled and all problems and obstacles in completion of the same should be removed. The provincial minister said that encroachments on KDA housing schemes should be also be removed.

“If the flats of KDA are occupied illegally, it is the negligence of concerned officials of the authority,” he remarked. The minister added that complaints had been received that marriage halls were constructed on the amenty plots and parks of KDA and directed to take strict action against involved and demolish all such halls, adding that Sindh government would extend all possible support in this regard.

He said that many people, including our national hero Shahid Afridi, had requested adopting playgrounds and in this regard, comprehensive proposals should be prepared so that playgrounds could be improved. He said that suggestions should also be prepared for beautification of roundabouts of various localities in the city.
