Jamaat-i-Islami’s provincial chief, Abdul Wasi, expressed concern over the increasing extortion, target killings, kidnappings for ransom, and violence in the province, announcing a peace march in Peshawar on April 20.

He mentioned that Jamaat-i-Islami’s central leader, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, along with other leaders, would also participate in the march.

During a press conference at the Mardan Press Club today, accompanied by district chief Ghulam Rasool, Saeed Akhtar Advocate, Ibrahim Buland, Manzoor-ul-Haq, and Jahanzaib Khan, Abdul Wasi stated that in the new wave of terrorism in the province, religious schools, scholars, and ordinary citizens are being targeted. He emphasized the need to eradicate terrorism from its roots.

He mentioned that the killing of citizens in the Babuzai area of Katlang was raised in the provincial assembly, but the helplessness of the ministers was evident. He complained that the use of force against innocent people is creating a divide between the public and security institutions.

Abdul Wasi expressed regret over the silence of the Muslim Ummah on the martyrdom of children and civilians in Gaza due to Israeli bombing and appealed to the OIC to convene an immediate meeting. He urged the government of Pakistan and the Pakistan Army to take effective measures.

He stated that despite the production of cheap electricity in the province, expensive electricity is being provided to the public. The central government should make immediate payments. He attributed the recent reduction in electricity prices to Jamaat-i-Islami’s efforts and demanded further reductions.

Abdul Wasi expressed Jamaat-i-Islami’s commitment to continue its struggle for sustainable peace in the province and appealed to the people and workers to participate in the march at Haji Camp in Peshawar on April 20.
