Advisor for Services and General Administration, Ms. Nisaran Abbasi, has emphasized the need for legislation, describing the increasing number of thalassemia children in Azad Kashmir as an alarming situation. She mentioned that the civil society blood bank is organizing thousands of blood camps to collect blood donations for children with thalassemia.
Previously, former assembly member Ms. Naseema Wani had also presented a resolution on this issue in the legislative assembly. The resolution, which has been unanimously passed, proposed mandatory testing before cousin marriages, but no progress has been made towards legislation so far.
Health Minister Nisar Ansar Abbasi stated that testing facilities are available until legislation is enacted.
In another resolution, Law Minister Abdul Waheed and Power Development Minister Chaudhry Rashid congratulated General Syed Asim Munir on his promotion to the rank of Field Marshal. They praised General Munir for effectively responding to recent Indian aggression.
Rehabilitation Minister Javed Iqbal Budhanvi strongly condemned India’s cowardly aggression, stating that the leadership of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir gave a robust response to the Indian attacks. The Pakistan Armed Forces gave a crushing reply to the enemy, and he proposed offering prayers of gratitude for this victory.
The meeting paid tribute to the martyrs, expressed condolences to their families, and thanked Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq for compensating the families of the martyrs.
