A high-level delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by Jihad Azour, Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department, held discussions with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, on Thursday. The Deputy Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the IMF’s ongoing collaboration with Pakistan, highlighting the completion of the first review under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) Arrangement.
During the meeting, which also included SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Secretary Finance, and officials from the Federal Board of Revenue and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan’s dedication to achieving enduring macroeconomic stability. He assured the IMF of the country’s commitment to key structural reforms and the promotion of long-term, inclusive economic growth.
The IMF delegation recognized Pakistan’s reform initiatives and reiterated their support for the nation’s economic development agenda. The discussions underscored the significance of the partnership between Pakistan and the IMF in navigating economic challenges and fostering growth.
