IHC extends suspension of FIA summons to Bushra Bibi in Toshakhana case

ISLAMABAD:The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday extended the duration of suspension of the summons issued by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to the wife of former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan Bushra Bibi for voice matching in Toshakhana fake receipts case.

Justice Babar Sattar of the IHC heard former first lady’s petition against the summons issued to her by the FIA.

The court also lumped her case with her petition against audio leaks.

Speaking on the occasion, the additional attorney general (AAG) said that the police had asked the FIA to obtain voice sample of Bushra for her voice matching. “And it was on the police’s request that the FIA had summoned her,” he added.

The court then adjourned the case’s hearing until October 30.

Five days back, on September 22, 2023, the IHC judge Justice Babar Sattar had suspended the summons issued by the FIA to Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi for voice matching in the Toshakhana case.

Bushra, in her petition, had said that despite the fact that the case was sub judice, the FIA still issued summons to her on September 19. She prayed to the court to suspend the Agency’s notice.

“If the FIA continues the proceedings, it will affect rights of the petitioner,” Advocate Sardar Latif Khosa, representing PTI chief’s wife, told the court.
