Hyderabad business leaders calls on Durrani

KARACHI: Acting Governor Sindh Agha Siraj Durrani met with the delegation of Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industries at Governor House on Tuesday.

The delegation was led by chamber president Adeel Siddiqui. Other members included chief patron M Ikram, senior vice president Najam uddin Qureshi, vice president Awais Khan, Mirza Hassan Masood Baig, Mohammad Adnan Khan, Ijaz Ali Rajput and Nawab Qureshi.

The delegation informed the acting governor about their problems with regard to gas and electricity. The acting governor Sindh assured the delegation that he would approach the federal and provincial governments about their issues and would also raise the same with relevant authorities.

He further said that traders are the backbone of the national economy while industrialists and traders had a key role in the development of the country, adding that they should come forward to help the flood victims. There is dire need of tents, medicines, mosquito nets and ration bags, he added.

The business community should distribute tents, medicines and ration bags among the victims themselves so as to ensure reaching the same to deserving persons, Durrani said. He said that the farmers were the most affected as their crop lands were under water, he added.

While informing the delegation about the working of provincial Assembly, Durrani said that the building of the Sindh Assembly is of historical importance. It is the only provincial Assembly which allowed its proceedings to be telecast live so that the people of the constituency know how their representatives are highlighting their problems at this August forum.
