To adopt a joint stance on human rights violations in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a delegation of the Hurriyat Conference Pakistan met with the head of Pasban-e-Watan Party Kashmir, Tahir Khokhar, and stressed the need to adopt a comprehensive approach.
Human rights advocates Parvez Butt, Yasin Chouhan, and Dewanand Sharma emphasized the urgent need to address the issues of Kashmiris. They termed India’s 2019 actions of revoking the special status of Jammu and Kashmir a violation of fundamental rights, international law, and United Nations Security Council resolutions.
Participants cited reports from organizations such as the United Nations, European Union, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch, which documented human rights violations in the region. They praised Radha Begum’s grassroots activism, which amplified Kashmiri voices and exposed alleged Indian atrocities. Pakistan’s continued support for Kashmir’s political and economic autonomy was also appreciated.
Tahir Khokhar emphasized the global implications of the Kashmir issue. He urged the international community to pressure India to ensure genuine Kashmiri representation in relevant forums. The forum demanded continued political, economic, and social support for the Kashmiri cause and called for international action to end human rights violations and uphold the right to self-determination. They urged global powers, including the United Nations, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union, to hold India accountable for its actions in Kashmir and to pursue a peaceful resolution. A fact-finding mission was proposed to directly assess the situation, along with a plea to end human rights violations. The forum pledged continued support for the Kashmiri people in their quest for justice and self-determination.
