Hockey Federation Finances, Legality Probed By National Assembly Committee

A National Assembly Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination convened on Monday at Parliament House to address critical issues surrounding Pakistan Hockey, including player payments, international federation participation, and alleged financial irregularities within the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF). Chaired by MNA Muhammad Sana Ullah Khan Masti Khel, the committee’s agenda focused heavily on the PHF’s financial dealings for the 2024-25 fiscal year, its election protocols, and constitutional matters. A scheduled discussion regarding the National Internship Program was postponed.

To thoroughly examine the PHF’s legal standing, financial issues, and chart a course of action, the committee established a sub-committee. Led by MNA Sheikh Aftab Ahmed, this investigative body includes representatives from the Ministries of Law and IPC, the Pakistan Sports Board, the Attorney General’s office, and the PHF itself. The sub-committee is tasked with delivering a comprehensive report to the main committee.

Several MNAs, including Anjum Aqeel Khan, Waseem Qadir, Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan Nasar, Haji Rasool Bux Chandio, Syeda Shehla Raza, Dr Mehreen Razzaq Bhutto, Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan, Yousaf Khan, and Syed Sami Ullah, were present at the meeting. Senior officials from the Ministry of IPC, the Pakistan Sports Board, the Internship Program, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, and the PHF also participated in the deliberations.
