Minister of Technical Education and senior leader of Muslim League (N) Sardar Amir Altaf Khan, terming India’s actions in occupied Kashmir as cruel, said that they are a violation of UN resolutions, international law, and fundamental human rights. The Minister for Technical Education and senior leader of Muslim League (N) Sardar Amir Altaf Khan termed the revocation of the region’s special status on August 5, 2019, as a reflection of India’s colonial ambitions.

Amir Altaf Khan said that India is systematically transferring a large number of Hindus to the occupied territory, aiming to turn the Muslim-majority area into a minority. He said that Kashmiris’ properties are being confiscated and given to people from outside the region, which is a grave injustice to the local residents. He said that the purpose of this is to suppress Kashmiri identity and the right to self-determination.

Referring to the alleged ongoing barbarism by Indian forces, the minister cited extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, abuse of women, and illegal detention of youth. He said that thousands of Kashmiri youth have been imprisoned without any judicial proceedings.

Amir Altaf Khan appealed to international organizations to move beyond statements and take concrete steps. He urged the UN, OIC, and the US to pressure India to stop the alleged atrocities and grant Kashmiris the right to self-determination in accordance with UN resolutions.

He also appealed to the international press to expose the alleged atrocities and counter India’s narrative. Sardar Amir Altaf Khan concluded his remarks with a request for continued global support for the Kashmiri people and their cause.
