KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Minorities Affairs and Focal Person Rain Emergency Jamshoro Giyanchand Essrani on Friday visited protective embankments of the Indus River in Khanpur and Kotri areas and reviewed the flow of water in Indus River.
On this occasion, the provincial minister said that traditionally the protective dykes near Ras Wah Mori in Kotri and khanpur have remained sensitive. Currently, 400000 cusecs of water is passing through the Kotri Barrage.
He added that the river dykes were safe and people needed not to be panicked. The irrigation department and the district administration are monitoring the embankments of river 24 hours a day. He said that in 2010, more than 800,000 cusecs of flow of water had easily passed through the Kotri Barrage, this year 500,000 to 600,000 cusecs of water is likely to reach at Kotri barrage.
