KARACHI: PM special aide Ata Tarar has paid a visit to the residence of Sameer on Sunday. Reportedly Sameer died after his bike had a head-on collision with the march container.
Witnesses said the container was on the wrong way and collided head-on with his motorbike, leaving him dead on the spot. Last Sunday, journalist Sadaf Naeem was crushed to death as she skidded off PTI chief Imran Khan’s container during the long march.
Ata Tarar expressed sympathies with the bereaved family and handed over a Rs5 million cheque to the father of Sameer on behalf of the Prime Minister. Sameer’s father expressed his gratitude to former premier Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Talking to the media, Ata Tarar said the political march took another life. He came down hard on the PTI chief Imran Khan who started the long march to the capital to mount pressure on the coalition government to hold snap polls and his other demands.
The bullet that hit Muzam Gondal was shot by Imran Khan’s guard, the PM aide said adding that Imran Khan was shot in one leg and had bandages on both legs. No case of shooting has so far been registered, he said, stressing that the PTI leadership has been showing stubbornness in getting a case registered against the army.
He reiterated the federal government’s call for holding a free and fair investigation to ascertain the facts and publicize the report so that the people could get to know about the reality. The person who confessed to the crime should have been prosecuted, he said. The aide added since the incident occurred in Punjab the chief minister should be held accountable.
Cases against the federal interior minister, prime minister or an army officer are out of the question, he stressed, adding that the case should be investigated as the march is leaving a trail of destruction. Regarding the march entry into the federal capital, he said the lawmen have adopted the measures as the federal government will not let the mobs enter Islamabad.
