Jamaat-e-Islami Sindh leader Kashif Saeed Sheikh strongly criticized the allocation of vast agricultural land for corporate farming, calling it a grave injustice. Addressing a Jamaat-e-Islami training session in Larkana, Sheikh accused the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of subjecting the people of Sindh to water scarcity, lawlessness, corporate agriculture, and widespread corruption during their 17-year rule. He also criticized those who historically condemn Yazid but support individuals today whom they consider oppressive.
Sheikh compared the current political environment to the Battle of Karbala, encouraging resistance against a “Yazidi group.” He criticized those who allegedly rig elections, comparing them to Yazid’s followers. Other party officials, including Mumtaz Hussain Sahto, Hafiz Nasrullah Aziz, Imdadullah Bijarani, Nader Ali Khoso, and Rameez Raja Sheikh, also addressed the gathering.
The provincial emir strongly criticized the provincial administration’s water resource management, blaming rats for breaches in canals and infrastructure failures. He questioned the government’s failure to locate Priya Kumari, a girl abducted four years ago. He also expressed concerns about political instability following court decisions on reserved seats, accusing the ruling coalition of spreading anxiety and fear.
Sheikh criticized the government’s claims of cooperation with the establishment, citing rising inflation, insecurity, and unemployment. Referring to speculation about Field Marshal Asim Munir’s attempts to extend his tenure and Asif Ali Zardari’s possible dismissal, he accused the ruling coalition of internal power struggles.
He alleged that the administration prioritizes suppressing the opposition and increasing inflation over public welfare. He pointed to a record loan of Rs 8,031.2 billion in a single year. Calling debt and its associated interest a bigger threat than terrorism, he accused the government and establishment of jeopardizing the nation, parliament, democracy, and the constitution for power. He also criticized the Pakistani government and Netanyahu for nominating Trump for the Nobel Prize. Sheikh reiterated Jamaat-e-Islami’s commitment to true democracy, Sharia law, and constitutional protection despite pressure from the ruling class.
