DC South orders foolproof security plan for Muharram

KARACHI: An important meeting was held under the Chair of Deputy Commissioner District South Tabriz Sadiq Marri regarding the law and order situation, cleanliness arrangements and other administrative matters during Muharram-ul-Haram.

A detailed discussion was held regarding the arrangements for cleanliness, lighting arrangements at Imambargahs, law and order and security situation during Muharram. The meeting was briefed that the Majalis of Imam Hussain (RA) are held in more than 18 Imambargahs in the South district and apart from this, Majlis are also held at the private residence. Deputy Commissioner South, while giving instructions, said that proper arrangements for cleanliness and lighting should be ensured around all Imambargahs and along the routes of processions. He also directed to prepare foolproof security plan for the Muharram-ul-Haram.

He said that all necessary facilities should be provided to the mourners of Imam Hussain (RA) for performing religious rituals. It was informed in the meeting that there are 17 dewatering pumps to deal with the situation of possible rains so that there is no obstacle in the processions due to rain water on the streets of Imambargah and the routes of processions.

Marri instructed all the district administrations and other relevant departments to take steps with a solid plan so that the people do not face any kind of difficulties during Muharram-ul-Haram. The Deputy Commissioner warned that he himself would review the arrangement on daily basis and no negligence will be tolerated.

SSP South, Pakistan Rangers, all law enforcement agencies, all Assistant Commissioners, officers from KMC, DMC, SSGC, KE, Fire Brigade, Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, Sindh Solid Waste Management, Scouts, Traffic Police and line departments attended the meeting.
