Rubina Kausar, Director of Pakistan BaitulMal Sindh, emphasized the importance of providing free cochlear implant services to hearingimpaired children from underprivileged backgrounds.
During her visit to the Dr. Ruth K. M. Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi on Thursday, she highlighted that this initiative, inspired by Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif”s vision, is crucial for offering children a brighter future and an active role in society.
Warmly received by Professor Sadaf Zia, Head of the ENT Department, Rubina Kausar, accompanied by Assistant Directors Shah Muhammad and Tahir Iqbal, reviewed the progress of the Cochlear Implant Programme. Professor Zia shared that five children have successfully received implants, with more registrations underway, emphasizing the transformative impact on the children”s lives.
The surgical procedures are overseen by Dr. Akbar Abbas from Aga Khan Hospital, with a dedicated team led by Prof. Sadaf Zia. Kausar interacted with the beneficiaries and their families, expressing her commitment to ongoing support for such projects.
Postgraduate residents of the ENT department delivered presentations on the project”s progress, and the event concluded with floral tributes and a group photo, marking a successful visit dedicated to enhancing social inclusion and opportunities for hearingimpaired children.
