The Christian Rights Defence Council (CRDC) will celebrate “Maarka-e-Haq, Jashn-e-Azadi” (Battle of Rights, Celebration of Freedom) from August 1st to 14th with enthusiasm and grandeur. The youth will be acquainted with the services of Christian leaders to foster patriotism. CRDC Chairman Adil George Mito emphasized the active participation of Christians in Pakistan’s freedom struggle.
Mito stressed that Christian leaders stood shoulder to shoulder with Quaid-e-Azam, advocating for the creation of the country. The planned programs aim to educate Christian youth about these historical figures and instill a sense of patriotism. Tributes will be paid to Pakistan’s martyrs and armed forces. Special programs will be held in Christian communities across the country under the banner of CRDC.
Mito expressed disappointment over the frequent overlooking of Christian leaders’ roles in the Pakistan Movement. He mentioned Chaudhry Chandu Lal (Advocate), Speaker of United Punjab; S.P. Singha, Member of the United Punjab Legislative Assembly; his grandfather, Allah Rakha Mito; and his father, George Allah Rakha Mito, as key figures. He criticized historians and scholars for not acknowledging their contributions. He also highlighted the crucial role of Christians in the Lyallpur District referendum, a significant event in the movement’s history.
Mito lauded Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori’s decision to dedicate a day for the Christian community during Independence Day celebrations at Governor House Karachi, terming it a commendable example for other provinces. He encouraged other provincial governments, commissioners, and districts to adopt similar inclusivity in their official events.
