A ceremony in connection with Pinktober to create awareness about breast cancer was held at Islamabad Medical and Dental College and Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital in Islamabad today.
It was aimed at sensitizing the general public about self-examination, screening and treatment of the disease.
Awareness stalls, pink posters and ribbons as well as distribution of relevant materials were the part of the ceremony with the major focus to the early detection of the disease in order to reduce the mortality rate.
Principal IMDC Professor Dr. Syed Irfan Ahmed, Executive Director of Hospital Ghulam Mujtaba Abbasi and Director Dr. Areej Niazi participated in the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Areej Niazi underscored the need to sensitize the male members of the society especially at homes so that females after diagnosis do not hesitate and feel stressed to tackle the taboos associated with the disease.
She expressed commitment to make liaison with all stakeholders to alleviate sufferings of the breast cancer patients.
The participants were also briefed that diagnosis services will be provided to the executive clinics of the hospitals situated in G-8 Markaz at affordable rates on Friday and Saturday.
