Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed grief over the loss of life and devastation caused by the recent rains across the country, with the death toll rising to 19 in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. He expressed his condolences to the bereaved families.

Several districts of Balochistan including Washuk, Awaran, Jhal Magsi, Khuzdar, Musa Khel, Qilla Saifullah, Barkhan, Kohlu, Loralai, Zhob, and Sherani have been affected by heavy rains. Bhutto Zardari directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to launch joint relief operations in the affected areas of Balochistan.

He also demanded immediate assistance for the rain-affected people in various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa such as Malakand, Buner, Mansehra, and Karak. He urged all government agencies and relevant organizations to implement an effective strategy to deal with possible heavy rains and floods across the country. The PPP chairman also appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise caution during the rainy season.

Bhutto Zardari highlighted the rising global temperature due to climate change and its effects on Pakistan, including changing weather patterns and environmental damage. He stressed the need for action at the global level, urging the international community to move beyond dialogue and allocate resources to mitigate the growing effects of global warming and environmental damage.
