HYDERABAD:A section police claimed to have arrested a bandit in injured condition during an encounter near Akbari graveyard of Hyderabad city on Monday According to a police report, a team of police signaled six suspected bandits riding on two motorcycles to stop, but they instead of stopping, started firing at the police. The police also exchanged the fire.

In the shooting, one of the accused was injured and arrested with a weapon while his accomplices managed to escape under the cover of the fire. The arrested accused was identified as Waqas. The police operation was carried out on a tip-off that a six-member dacoit gang was roaming around with the intention of a dacoity, the police report said. The injured accused was shifted to a local hospital for treatment. Further investigation was underway, said police. They added that search for the fleeing accused was being carried out.
