Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Saturday assessed flood-ravaged regions in Kasur and a relief encampment in Jalalpur Pirwala, Multan, evaluating the ongoing crisis and aid endeavors.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief received a briefing on the ground reality, encompassing details of joint relief operations by the military and civilian authorities. The Punjab Chief Secretary and high-ranking provincial officials also attended.

In discussions with civilian administrators, Field Marshal Munir emphasized effective governance, citizen-focused progress, and infrastructure enhancements to avert recurring flood damage. He stated that Pakistan cannot tolerate yearly losses of lives and assets due to calamities.

Underscoring improved civil-military cooperation, the COAS reiterated the army’s dedication to public well-being and aid initiatives. He guaranteed sustained support for flood victims’ rehabilitation and resettlement, with those impacted expressing thanks for the army’s prompt assistance.

Field Marshal Munir also engaged with troops, Rescue 1122 personnel, and police officers involved in relief work. He commended their commitment, spirit, and continuous efforts in aiding locals amidst challenging circumstances.

Subsequently, the army chief conducted an aerial survey of flood-stricken areas along the Lahore-Kasur and Multan-Jalalpur Pirwala routes to personally gauge the damage extent and ongoing relief actions. The COAS was welcomed by the -Lahore and Multan Corps Commanders upon arrival.
