Arab and Islamic Countries Condemn Israel’s Rejection of Gaza Peace Roadmap

Riyadh: Foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia and other Arab and Islamic nations have jointly condemned Israel's declared rejection of the roadmap for completing the implementation of the US president's comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Indonesia, Turkey, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates expressed their disapproval of Israel's stance, which also includes a rejection of the establishment of a Palestinian state. These countries argue that Israel's position undermines the collective efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace in the region.

The roadmap, which has been accepted by Palestinian factions, represents a significant milestone in peace efforts. It includes measures such as limiting weapons, withdrawing Israeli forces, deploying an international stabilization force, transferring administrative authority to a National Committee for Gaza, and reconstructing the area as outlined in the comprehensive plan.

The ministers emphasize the crucial role of continued US engagement to ensure Israel's compliance with the roadmap. They hold Israel accountable for any consequences of its refusal to comply, warning that this could lead to further deterioration of the situation on the ground.

The ministers reaffirm the necessity for the immediate implementation of the comprehensive plan to address humanitarian concerns, ensure security, and pave the way for reconstruction in Gaza. They stress that peace can only be achieved through the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions.

The ministers also highlighted the importance of the Peace Council's ongoing efforts and called for international support to prevent any obstruction to the roadmap's implementation. They urged the Peace Council, supported by the United States, to take immediate actions to uphold the comprehensive plan's integrity.
