QUETTA:Afghan singers and artists on Thursday staged a protest demonstration outside the office of UNHCR, Chaman Housing Scheme, demanding the authorities of UNHCR not to deport them to Afghanistan.

According to detail, demonstration was staged by Afghan singers and artists outside the office of UNHCR, Chaman Housing Schemes, and Quetta in protest over the decision of the Government of Pakistan to deport Afghan refugees dwelling in Pakistan. They demanded of the authorities of UNHCR and other international organizations not to deport Afghan refugees dwelling in Pakistan. Protesters were holding placards inscribed with slogans in support of their demands.

It is worth mentioning that the previous day, Commissioner Quetta Division, Hamza Shafqaat, while talking to media including PPI, had said that 200 illegal Afghan refugees had been detained, and adding that survey was in progress to identify illegal Afghan refugees in Quetta division. He said that crackdown against illegal Afghan refugees would be started from November 1, 2023.
