Acting President Vows Full Support For Flood Victims’ Rehabilitation

Acting President Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Saturday pledged complete governmental support for flood victims until their full rehabilitation. He vowed that the administration would spare no effort in restoring their lives and livelihoods.

At a relief distribution event in Multan, Gilani acknowledged the devastating impact of the floods, which destroyed residences, agricultural land, enterprises, and livestock nationwide. ‘We empathize with every affected family and will work tirelessly until they can return to their homes with dignity,’ he promised.

He commended the Farmer Development Organization, Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, Mukhtar A. Sheikh Hospital, and Pakistan Sweet Homes for their daily provision of food, shelter, and essential provisions to thousands of displaced individuals. He also guaranteed full educational assistance and care for orphaned children.

Emphasizing the inadequacy of governmental efforts alone, the acting president called upon philanthropists, business people, and industrialists to contribute. ‘These challenging times will pass. In collaboration with civil society, federal and provincial authorities, we will reconstruct more resilient communities,’ he stated.

MNA Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani reported the daily distribution of 5,000 meals within his constituency and promised continued aid for victims. Chairman Public Accounts Committee Punjab Syed Ali Haider Gilani, MPA Kamran Abdullah, FDO Chairman Ghulam Mustafa, Zuhra Sajjad, and others were also present at the event.
