LARKANA: The relatives of 7-year boy Shoaib Soomro, allegedly kidnapped for ransom a month ago from Pirzada Colony, staged a sit-in at Jinnah Bagh Chowk on Monday closing it for all kinds of traffic demanding his release while holding banners in their hands.

Ihsan Ali Soomro, father of the victim, Ashiq Ali Bosan, Abdul Ahad Surhio, Rauf Shaikh, Kashif Ali Samo and others said that on 4th January Shoaib went to play a game outside from where he was kidnapped.

They said a few days ago they received a phone call from a person of Shikarpur in a woman’s voice demanding three crore rupees for release of Shoaib which we immediately informed Hyderi police station which has so far failed to trace the calland they have also been unable to recover the abducted boy despite passage of 40 days due to which our family members are extremely worried.

They further said that the law and order situation in Larkana is worsening day by day and cops are busy in providing protection to the elite and political persons. They said that thefts, robberies, extortions, murders, snatchings and other street crimes have become common in the district and the police are merely playing the part of a spectator due to which citizens are unprotected.

They demanded recovery of Shoaib and improving law and order situation or else scope of protest will be further enlarged, they warned. Meanwhile, residents felt extreme difficulties due to the closure of the main roundabout since morning but police did nothing to solace the parents or the protesters and open the road.
