ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police have accelerated its efforts against criminal elements and arrested 22 outlaws from different areas of the city besides recovery of 2630 gram heroin, 645 gram hashish, 10 gram ice and eight 30 bore pistols with ammunition, according to a statement issued by police spokesman on Tuesday.

He said that, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas had ordered crackdown against criminals including those involved in drug peddling and looting people. Following these orders, SSP (Operations) Faisal Kamran directed all zonal officers to accelerate their efforts to curb the crime in the city.

According to the details, Tarnol police team apprehended four accused namely Rafique, Ibrahim Khan, Jameel Khan and Fayyaz and recovered 2290 gram heroin, one 30 bore pistol and a dagger from their possession. Likewise, Industrial Area police arrested three accused during snap checking namely Taimur, Muhammad Yaseen and Mehmood and recovered two 30 bore pistols and one 32 bore revolver from their possession. Bhara Kahu police arrested two accused namely Safeer Hussain and Sarwish Zafran and recovered 340 gram heroin and one 12 bore repeater from their possession.

Similarly, Golra police arrested two accused namely Haider Ali and Allah Wadeha and recovered 210 gram hashish and one 30 bore pistol with ammunition from their possession. Sabzi Mandi police arrested five accused namely Ahsan Ullah, Farhad Khan, Abdul Rehman, Zahid Ullah and Lewana and recovered one 30 bore pistol and four daggers from their possession.

Moreover, Kohsar and Ramna police arrested three drug peddlers namely

Mohsin Ullah, Muhammad Awais and Khalid Pervaiz and recovered 435 gram hashish from their possession. Secretariat and Bani Gala police arrested two accused namely Ahtisham and Zulqarnain and recovered two 30 bore pistols with ammunition from their possession.

Cases against all the nominated accused have been registered and further investigation is underway. IGP Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas has appreciated this overall performance of the police teams and further ordered to intensify the crackdown. “Safety and security of the citizens is our foremost priority and no laxity will be tolerated in this regard” he added.
