Rs 51429 million tax recovered in six months

KARACHI: A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Department and Parliamentary Affairs and Food. The meeting was also attended by Director Generals Iqbal Ahmad Leghari, Aurangzeb Akbar Panhwar and other officers.

Details of tax collection during the current financial month till November were presented in the meeting. The meeting was informed that in the current financial year from July 2021 to November 2021, a total of Rs 51429 million were recovered while in the same period during last fiscal year Rs. 36443 million were recovered.

According to the details, Rs. 4414.842 million in motor vehicle tax, Rs. 42938.193 million in infrastructure cess and in terms of professional tax and property tax, Rs. 394.430 and Rs. 1248.026 million were collected respectively. The meeting was further informed that Rs.103.253 million was collected in the form of cotton fee and Rs.11.041 million in the case of entertainment duty.

Addressing the meeting, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation, Narcotics Control Department and Parliamentary Affairs and Food, said that the overall situation of tax collection was satisfactory. Professional and property tax defaulters should be encouraged to deposit taxes. He further said that the officers appointed for collection of property tax should expedite their work while tax defaulters could also visit the website of the department for information. Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Department and Parliamentary Affairs and Food Mukesh Kumar Chawla warned tax defaulters to deposit their taxes to avoid any untoward situation as house, shop or other property could also be sealed for non-payment of taxes.
